Market share of leading mobile operators in the Nordics 2019-2022

The Norwegian leading mobile operator had the highest market share, when compared with leading mobile operators in the other Nordic countries, reaching 43 percent in 2022. The leading mobile operators in Finland and Denmark followed in the ranking, whereas the one in Sweden ranked last with market shares accounting for 32 percent of the total market. Over the years from 2009 to 2021, Telia Company was leading mobile call and data subscriptions operator in Sweden. As of 2022, the company’s market share was over 33 percent and was followed by Tele2, which had 27.4 percent of the share that year.  

Leading telecom companies in the Nordics

Telenor ASA was the highest ranked telecommunication company in the Nordic countries as of June 2022, with a revenue of 11.5 billion euros. Telia Company AB ranked second, with a revenue of over eight billion euros in the evaluated period. Last in the ranking was Etel AB, with a revenue amounting to 500 million euros.

A 2021 report illustrated a ranking of the worldwide leaders within the telecom industry, by revenues. AT&T was the telecom operator with the largest revenue, reaching more than 161 billion euros that year and was followed by Verizon, with nearly 118 billion euros. The two American companies were followed by the Chinese telecom leader China Mobile, which had 98.4 billion euros in revenues in 2020.
