According to a survey conducted in 2020 by Ipsos on global levels of happiness, around 35 percent of South Korean respondents stated that having a meaningful job or employment did or could give them greatest happiness. Overall, around 84 percent of all surveyed South Koreans said it was a source of happiness.

The question asked was as follows: "Having a meaningful job/employment does or could give me greatest happiness, does or could give me some happiness, doesn't or couldn't make me happy or happier, does not apply to me."
