Net NPA of private banks India FY 2017-2021

In fiscal year 2021, the value of the net non-performing assets of private banks across India amounted to around 557 billion Indian rupees. This was another decrease compared to the previous year after the value had reached its peak in financial year 2018.
Non-performing assets have posed a big problem for banks in India and experts point that this crisis has been long in the making. Since more banks are facing a problem of risky or non-paying assets, the profitability and solvency of the banks has gone down, in turn adversely affecting the economy of the nation. The value of net non-performing assets in India showed opposite direction of the value of gross non-performing assets, which increased significantly from 2019 to 2020.
