According to a survey conducted in 2020 by Ipsos on global levels of happiness, around 35 percent of South Korean respondents stated that living a meaningful life did or could give them greatest happiness. Overall, around 83 percent of all surveyed South Koreans stated that feeling that their life has meaning was a source of happiness for them.

The question asked was as follows: "The feeling that my life has meaning does or could give me greatest happiness, does or could give me some happiness, doesn't or couldn't make me happy or happier, does not apply to me."
