In the period from January 2016 to October 2018, the largest share of crime incidents in the retail industry in Belgium was observed in the spring, followed by winter and autumn. Roughly one third of all crime incidents took place in spring that year, compared to just under 17 percent in summer.

The source obtained the data by collecting "media news reports (both
printed and non-printed media) over three years (2016, 2017 and 2018 until
October) on events relating to crime incidents: shoplifting, robberies, burglaries, internal theft, fraud and other security events."
