Since the state of emergency decreed in Chile on October 17th of 2019, a total of 2,009 people were admitted to hospitals due to the injuries they suffered. Of them, 643 were reportedly wounded by shotguns. The crisis in Chile arose as a result of the decision of Sebastián Piñera's government to increase the price of the metro fare. The announcement led to massive evasions in public transport, along with generalized street demonstrations.
