In the year 2005, the United States' municipal water withdrawal amounted to around 65.4 billion cubic meters, while volume of treated municipal wastewater reached some 46.5 billion cubic meters. By the year 2015, municipal water withdrawal in the U.S. decreased to almost 58.4 billion cubic meters.
