According to a survey in Malaysia conducted in December 2018, 85 percent of respondents stated that they looked out for quality when purchasing sweet snacks. By comparison, 34 percent of respondents considered the brand of the product before purchasing it. Malaysia has one of the highest rates of obesity in Asia, and the government has taken measures to curb this problem such as introducing a sugar tax.
