Between October 2017 and March 2019, Maharashtra had the highest number of urban households that received electricity connection under the Saubhagya scheme. Over 400 thousand households in urban areas of the state were provided with one LED light and a DC power plug. The Saubhagya scheme or Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana was a government project launched in September 2017 that aimed to provide electricity to all households in the country.
