A survey conducted on October 19, 2019 revealed that the majority of Chileans reckoned subway fare evasions were legitimate. When asked what they thought about avoiding public transport fares, 61 percent of respondents answered they were a legitimate form of protest, whereas only 36 percent thought it was a violent or criminal act.
