During 2018, the least stressed district court in India was Mohali district court in Punjab with a judicial stress index of 0.06. The state of Haryana had five of the least stressed district courts. Most of the least stressed courts were in the northwestern states of India.
District courts with least stress across India in 2018*
*Judicial Stress Index (JSI) is a normalized equally-weighted index that captures the pendency rate, court infrastructure deficit, and population-adjusted case-load across districts. Figures were based on a survey from 6,650 litigants across 665 districts. Results were for 544 district courts, since these had consistent data.
The values closer to zero indicate lower stress and closer to one indicates higher stress.
