In 2019, 20 percent of respondents in a Chilean survey declared consuming cigarettes regularly. In that year, the share of respondents declaring occasional cigarette consumption amounted to 14 percent. In 2017, the age group with the highest level of cigarette consumption in the country were those between the age of 30 and 49.
The question was presented as follows: "Please indicate whether you are a regular consumer, an occasional consumer, a former consumer or not a consumer of each of the following products."
