In Russia, friends were more influential than mothers to personal beauty routine, as the study results by Ipsos showed in 2019. Every third person was likely to shape their beauty routine according to online video suggestions, while the influence of Instagram and similar photo-sharing sites was named by nearly 30 percent of participants.

* The original survey question stated the following: "Thinking now about your own personal beauty routine, how influential has each of the following been to you?" The presented figures are a sum of shares of respondents who answered "very influential" and "somewhat influential."
The source specified that the sample is "more urban, more educated
and/or more affluent than the general population and the
results should be viewed as reflecting the views of a more
“connected” population."
Regarding the methodology, "sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error, and measurement error. The precision of the Ipsos online polls is measured using a Bayesian Credibility Interval," which was set at +/-4.8 percentage points.
