While 96 percent of online business-to-consumer sellers in Russia used their own website as a sales channel, only a slightly lower share of companies employed social networks between July 2017 and June 2018. Other popular marketplaces were websites for announcements and messengers, each used by approximately 30 percent of surveyed businesses.

The survey combined an online survey of approximately 3,000 questionnaires, 50% river sampling and 50% panel, with 247 online questionnaires of professional e-commerce sellers and 45 detailed telephone interviews with professional sellers.
