According to a survey on vapers in Indonesia in 2019, 94 percent of males respondents said that they vaped because they believed it was less harmful than smoking cigarettes. By comparison, 25 percent of female respondents cited that as a reason for vaping. Vaping has been gaining popularity in countries where cigarette smoking has been decreasing. In Indonesia, however, cigarettes are still the preferred tobacco product. Indonesia has one of the highest smoking rates in the world and is one of the biggest producers of tobacco worldwide.
