According to a poll conducted in South Korea in 2021, linking the university entrance exam ("Suneung" in Korean) to the content provided on the EBS TV channel was perceived to be the most effective government measure to reduce spending on private education, with an answer share of around 26 percent. Since the introduction of the EBS-Suneung system in 2004, about 70 percent of the university entrance exam's content was from EBS textbooks. Other measures were the provision of after-school classes, and EBS lessons.
