According to a survey on regular smokers in Indonesia in 2019, 68 percent of the respondents stated that they smoked regularly because it relaxes them. While cigarette smoking is decreasing all over the world, Indonesia seems to be bucking this trend. Indonesia has one of the highest smoking rates in the world and is one of the biggest producers of tobacco worldwide.
