U.S. energy company Exelon generated roughly two thirds of its electricity supply from nuclear sources in 2021, amounting to 175 terawatt hours. That same year, the electricity generated from renewable sources only reached some 6.58 terawatt hours. The Chicago-based electric utility announced in 2021 the company's separation into two publicly-traded companies - Exelon Utilities and Constellation Energy Corp. The former will comprise the transmission and distribution bussiness through six utilities while the latter will be the power generation and customer-facing energy businesses.
