According to a survey conducted with food and beverages companies in Malaysia in January 2019, 56 percent of the respondents stated that they were concerned nutrition reformulation would compromise their products' quality. Malaysia has one of the highest rates of obesity in Asia, and the government has taken measures to curb this problem such as introducing a sugar tax in 2019.
