Within the sector responsible for supply of electrical energy, gas, and steam as well as air conditioning in Russia, the largest volume of water was used for the purpose of service water supply, which was measured at nearly 18.9 billion cubic meters in 2020. The agricultural sector of the country consumed approximately 5.8 billion cubic meters of water for irrigation.
