The largest consumer of freshwater in Russia was the electrical energy, gas, and steam supply and air conditioning industry, which used approximately 20.8 billion cubic meters of freshwater in 2022. Furthermore, the volume of freshwater used by the agricultural, forestry, hunting, and fishery sector amounted to nearly 9.1 billion cubic meters.
