In financial year 2024, the induction furnace (IF) process route accounted for around 51 million metric tons of crude steel, around a share of 35 percent of the total crude steel production in India. In 2021, the production volume decreased mainly due to the impact of coronavirus pandemic. India was the world's second-largest steel producing nation in 2021.
