In 2021, the average waiting time for the arrival of an ambulance in Japan was 9.4 minutes, more than one minute longer than in 2012. The time needed to transport a sick or wounded person to a hospital also steadily increased throughout the surveyed period, reaching an average transportation time of 42.8 minutes the same year.
