According to a survey in Malaysia conducted in December 2018, 72 percent of respondents in the 18 to 24 years and 45 to 54 years age groups agreed that eating healthily was more expensive than eating unhealthily. Malaysia has one of the highest rates of obesity in Asia, and has recently introduced a sugar tax to combat obesity.
