In 2019, reading society and political news on social media was more popular with Danish local politicians when compared to the rest of the population. For both groups of respondents, Facebook was the most used source. In detail, 50.2 percent of the population had read news related to the society or politics within the past week, while this was the case for 86.9 percent of the local politicians. However, nearly 38 percent of the respondents from the population had not read any news on politics and society on social media during this period, in contrast to 11.3 percent of the respondents in the other group.
