In 2018, 32 percent of Italian individuals who took part in a survey on the relevance of sexual orientation and gender identity in sport, believed that there was a problem with homophobia in sport in Italy. According to the data, those who believed that there was a big problem with homophobia in sport in Italy accounted for 24 percent of all respondents over the period considered.
