'Local routes' in Japanese air transportation refers to all routes other than 'trunk routes'. Trunk routes connect the airports New Chitose, Tokyo Haneda, Narita International, Osaka Itami, Kansai International, Fukuoka, and Naha.
Passenger-kilometers= (Number of passengers per route) x (Distance of route).
