Large commercial banks, "storbanker" as it is called in Swedish, lend the majority of loans in Sweden in the last quarter 2022. Foreign banks accounted for the second largest share of loans, which was 20 percent. Since Nordea moved their headquarter from Sweden to Finland in 2018, the bank is counted as a foreign bank in this statistic. This explains to a certain extent the large share of loans of foreign banks, which previously was around seven percent.
