In 2020, most of Holmen's operating profit was a product of the forest industry. While this segment generated over 1.3 billion Swedish kronor, paper accounted for only 73 million kronor of the total operating profit. In contrast, operating profit gained from renewable energy amounted to 215 million Swedish kronor that year. Holmen was founded in 1875 in Sweden and is one of the largest forest owners in the country. The company produces paper, cardboard, wood products and renewable energy from wind and water.
