Japan had two of the largest gas-fired power plants globally, the Higashi Niigata and the Kawagoe plants, which generated some 104 and 64.5 gigawatt hours per day, respectively in 2018. Mailao, the largest natural gas power plant worldwide as of 2018, is located in Taiwan, which generates just over 109 gigawatt hours.
