Commercial-use coastal cargo volume in Japan FY 2014-2023
In the fiscal year 2023, freight shipped via business-use coastwise vessels amounted to approximately 303.49 million tons in Japan, decreasing from roughly 319.94 million tons in the previous year. Business-use coastwise vessels refer, in principle, to those operated, chartered, leased, or managed by coastal shipping businesses for goods transportation between domestic ports.
