The concentration of the paper and paperboard market in Western Europe for the years 2008 and 2018 is here presented according to the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index. In 2018, the segment of the containerboard reported a score of 700, which indicates a low concentration and therefore a higher chances for acquisitions by other groups. Although a higher concentration was reported across all the market segments during the considered time period, in 2018 the market of coated wood free paper had with 1,589 points the highest concentration value.
