The concentration of PM 2.5 across the Indian city of Noida was about 450 micrograms per cubic meters in 2019. Rapid deforestation combined with urbanization and increasing number of private owned vehicles in the region could be the major contributing factors.
Air pollution has been a major problem across the south Asian country, causing almost two million deaths every year. Industrial processes, emissions from vehicles, demolition activities and fossil fuel combustion release a significant concentration of particulate matter into the atmosphere.
