As of 2018, the ratio of profits from the utilities sector to India's GDP was around 0.21 percent. This was a considerable drop from the 0.42 percent contribution of the sector between 2008 and 2013. In general, Reliance Group has been the largest contributor in the utilities sector across the country, owing to their power generation and distribution segment.
Overall, India’s corporate profit to GDP ratio dropped from 7.8 percent to three percent between 2008 and 2018.
