In fiscal year 2023, Yum China, a Shanghai-based fast-food restaurant company, opened 1,202 new KFC and 409 new Pizza Hut restaurants in China. The company also operated other fast-food chains, including Taco Bell, East Dawning, and Little Sheep restaurants. With a menu localization strategy, KFC gained its popularity in China. As of the end of 2023, there were 10,296 KFC restaurants in the country, a leading number among the local fast-food chains.
