According to a survey conducted in the Philippines, 67.1 percent of respondents from urban households use flush or pour flash to the septic tank for their sanitation in 2017. Only two percent of the respondents stated they use pit latrine with a slab for their sanitation.

A total of 31,791 households were selected for the sample, of which 27,855 were occupied. Of the occupied households, 27,496 were successfully interviewed, yielding a response rate of 99 percent. In the interviewed households, 25,690 women age 15-49 were identified for individual interviews; these interviews were completed with 25,074 women, yielding a response rate of 98 percent.
