According to a survey on substance use in India between December 2017 and October 2018, it was found that 75 percent of people who were addicted to drugs or alcohol tried to quit but did not receive any treatment. On the other hand only 25 percent of the surveyed respondents stated that they received help for their alcohol or drug dependence, indicating a pressing need for better access to de-addiction treatments in the country.
