As of the second quarter of 2020, the loan loss provision coverage rate of commercial banks stood at 3.54 percent. The loan provision rate of commercial banks kept increasing since 2013. The rate protected the bank from potential future losses and was calculated by dividing the pretax income and loss provision by net charge-offs.
