Large wildfires that reached a scale of a natural disaster occurred 24 times in Russia in 2021. To compare, in the previous year, 25 catastrophes of that nature were recorded in the country. Of great concern were massive forest fires that took place in the summer of 2019, mostly in the Far Eastern and the Siberian federal districts.
