Share of alcohol consumers in India 2017-2018 by demographic
According to a survey on substance use in India between December 2017 and October 2018, 27.3 percent of men over 18 years of age across the country were regular users of alcohol, making this the largest demographic group. Notably, the difference between genders was quite high with only 1.6 percent of women who consumed alcohol. Alarmingly, 1.3 percent of children between 10 to 17 years of age were also found to be users of alcohol in the given time duration.
