In 2018, air transport in Latin America and the Caribbean generated more than 720 thousand direct jobs. The airlines or handling agents accounted for 190 thousand of them, while the manufacture of civil aircrafts represented another 82 thousand jobs that year. However, the largest share of direct employment in this Latin American industry was attributed to on-site jobs at airports such as retail, restaurants, and hotels.
