The per capita consumption of pesticides across India was about 0.27 kilograms per hectare as of fiscal year 2017. This was a slight decrease in consumption compared to the previous year. The lack of awareness among farmers regarding the cost benefit ratio for the use of pesticides is one of the factors causing fluctuations in pesticide use across the country.
