By the end of 2023, there were 35,242 enterprises of heavy industry in Guangdong's Pearl River Delta in total, generating around 11.4 trillion yuan in revenue that year. Adding Hong Kong and Macau, the Pearl River Delta is also called Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. This is one of the most economically active regions in China.
