Warsaw Chopin Airport has handled Poland's most significant amount of cargo, reaching nearly 103.6 million metric tons in 2023. The total amount of freight handled amounted to 197.6 million metric tons and was higher by over 12 percent compared to the previous year.
Freight transportation
In 2022, domestic and international airfreight transport in Poland amounted to 119 thousand metric tons and recorded a sharp increase compared to the previous year. In 2022, 111 thousand metric tons of cargo were unloaded and loaded at Warsaw Chopin Airport. Thus, Warsaw Airport is the clear leader when it comes to domestic and international cargo transport.
Passenger transportation
In 2023, Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport was ranked 28th out of 194 airports globally in terms of punctuality, quality of service, and services. Poland's largest airport, Warsaw's Frederic Chopin Airport, ranked 102nd due to significantly lower punctuality. However, the share of domestic, regional airports in the total passenger traffic handled in Poland amounted to 65 percent when it comes to passenger service in 2023. The rest passengers used the biggest airport in Poland, Warsaw airport. In 2022, Polish airports served 13 million foreign passengers and almost 1.5 million domestic passengers, whereas Frederic Chopin Airport in Warsaw served the most significant passengers.
