Leading sea ports in Vietnam 2021, by throughput
In 2021, Tan Cang Cat Lai in southern Vietnam handled the largest amount of sea cargo at 80.75 million metric tons, followed by the southern port of Tan Cang-Cai Mep (TCIT+TCCT) . In that year, the total sea cargo throughput in the country amounted to around 356 million metric tons.

Tan Cang Cat Lai is the largest and most modern terminal in Vietnam. It spans across an area of 160 hectares and its berthing space spans a length of 2.04 kilometers. With its capacity, Tan Cang Cat Lai can handle up to 2.5 million TEUs per year. While Tan Cang Cat Lai has been the leading port for both international import and export cargo, Hai Phong Port in northern Vietnam has handled the largest amount of domestic cargo. Tan Cang Cat Lai belongs to the Ho Chi Minh City port network and is operated by Saigon Newport Corporation.
