Share of Chinese overseas students preferring UK and U.S. 2015-2022
The United Kingdom and United States are the most preferred international destinations for Chinese students studying abroad, together accounting for 71 percent of overseas Chinese students. While the share of Chinese students preferring the United States decreased due to stricter visa requirements and the tense relationship between the two countries, the share of Chinese students studying or planning to study in the United Kingdom grew up to 41 percent as of 2022.
