Number of new SUV registrations in Russia 2021, by brand

In the segment of sport utility vehicles (SUV), Hyundai was the most popular manufacturer by the number of primary registrations in Russia. Between January and November 2021, nearly 81 thousand new SUV registrations of the named brand were recorded nationwide. The Russian car brand Lada listed third with nearly 66 thousand new SUV registrations in the first 11 months of 2021.

Most desired cars in Russia

  SUV segment cars were the most sold vehicles in the country, generating more than a half of the sales volume over the first half of 2022. B-class cars were ranked in the second place, with nearly one third of the sales in the same period. While Hyundai was Russian customers’ brand of choice for new SUV vehicles, Lada prevailed in the passenger car parc with mileage as of June 2022.

The major player of the Russian automotive market

The national label Lada, which belongs to the AvtoVaz Group, has been the dominant brand of the Russian automotive market with roughly one fifth of the sales turnover over the last years. Granta and Vesta were among the most popular passenger and light commercial car models, with the former being the second most sold model nationwide in the first quarter of 2022.
