In 2018, it was estimated that nearly 35.5 million employed people in Mexico lacked access to social security and were regarded as socially vulnerable for that reason. The number of Mexicans in this situation has increased since 2014, when 30.4 million workers didn't have access to social security. The second largest group in this condition was comprised of citizens who were not economically active.
