Nearly four thousand wildfires were detected in the Brazilian municipality of Corumbá, located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, from January 1st to December 14th of 2021. That makes Corumbá the city with the highest number of fire outbreaks in Brazil during that period. Porto Velho, in Rondônia, ranked second with nearly 3.5 thousand wildfires, while Lábrea, in the state of Amazonas, came in third with over 3.4 thousand. Regarding the number of wildfires by state in Brazil, Pará had the highest amount in 2021.
