The number of domestic tourist arrivals in travel accommodations in Belgium fell dramatically during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 over the previous year. Overall, hotels recorded one of the sharpest drops. The number of arrivals in these accommodations decreased from nearly five million in 2019 to around 2.5 million in 2020. Meanwhile, the number of tourist arrivals in holiday cottages reached approximately 667 thousand in 2020, decreasing from 915 thousand in 2019.
